DO YOU NEED A TIME BUDGET?

We all have those moments when we realise that we are no where near where we thought we would be. Those New Year pledges that you were going to smash out are now a distant, faded memory. It’s not your fault, you just didn’t have the time to fit it all in!  Sound familiar? Why is that? I am guessing that for most, the prospect of actually getting kick started on these grand plans seemed just way to big to even contemplate. I mean, there were just too many things getting in the way. Time, well, there is just not enough of it. You are constantly short of time. You never have time for the things that really matter to you. Just getting your way through that endless to-do list of basic life admin has you swallowed up. Even worse. Your mind is so full of meaningless little things that you have no space to spark your imagination? You wish that you had the time to think about passion projects, family or goals but really your …

CHANGE: A CURATED (SIMPLE) LIFE

curate2 kjʊ(ə)ˈreɪt/ verb past tense: curated; past participle: curate To select, organize, and look after the items in (a collection or exhibition). When I realised that I had to get real and get myself and my life together it sparked a whole lot of thinking. As far as I could see, the problem was that I was all over the place in every aspect of my life. The problem was that nothing was broken so I didn’t look at anything too closely. Bank account? Noooooo, I didn’t want to check that – I knew that my latest trip to Karen Walker made me want to avoid that baby for a while. Sort out what I had on that week? I was pretty sure I had double booked myself multiple days, so I was going to ignore that until it was almost on top of me. You get the picture, and that was just scratching the surface! An idea that kept niggling at the corner of my mind was why I had so much cr@p in …

GAME CHANGERS: No Regrets

“What’s the one thing you dream of achieving? You know, what’s on your list?”  – Sebastian Terry Most of us know what a bucket list is. Most even have their own. It may not be written down. It may just be one of those things that we keep in the back of our mind. We all have at least one thing that we want to do before we die. You know what I mean, that “Oh, that is totally on my bucket list – I really want to do that one day”. With that in mind though, how many of us have goals and dreams that we desperately want that we ever achieve? Enter Sebastian Terry. When Sebastian was 27, the death of a close friend and moment of clarity saw him forge an incredible journey that saw him putting pen to paper and creating a list of 100 Things. His goal was the tick off everything on that list. This then kickstarted an adventure where he traveled to the end of the world. He …

ETIQUETTE: A lesson in packing

I am not a light traveller. I just don’t do it well. I can’t decide so I try and take it all. Packing for winter and staving off the cold – fashionably of course darling!? Fu-ged-about-it! Ok, it really isn’t that bad. There are some golden rules that stop you from packing as if you are never going to see another shop again or even worse. The cardinal sin of packing without a plan. That means getting to your destination with toothpaste and no toothbrush. Odd shoes. No hair brush and to top it off the highest pair of heels in your wardrobe and you will not be painting the town red. All a true story! As I am setting my sights on the winter wonderland that is Queenstown, here is a guide to pack fashionably and without deep regret… 1. Time First things first. Don’t leave your packing to the last minute whether that be 10 mins before you head out the door or if you are shattered the night before. You won’t have …

CULTURE: Instagram feeds to get you thinking

Being relatively new to the blogging world, I am devouring as much social media as I possibly can. An obsession that I am not shy of is Instagram – in fact I may have mentioned this before, ahem. So, what are some of my latest finds? Well, being on the hunt for all things thought provoking and interesting, these ones have shot to the top of my favourite list! 1. French Words – @frenchwords This, I will not lie ties beautifully into my newest obsession – all things French. I have no idea why this has kicked in recently. Perhaps it is my obsessing over Garance Dore, perhaps it is that Parisian’s seem so cool, calm, collected but entirely at a contradiction or perhaps it is simply that it is my yearning for summer (whilst I am writing this in winter!). Whatever the fascination, this feed is worth following with phrases that you would not only actually use, but the outrageous too.  Phrase’s like “Choixpeau magique – “Sorting Hat” – who wouldn’t want to drop that …
