We are now in a position known to many pet owners, dog owners in particular. It is a warm summers evening and you fancy a vino, in the sun at your fav little bar down the road. But wait. There is a slight problem. The one that is sitting by your feet, gazing at you with the saddest of big, brown soulful eyes…
Going out doesn’t need to have guilt attached – in fact there are more and more of your fav spaces that are now dog friendly. There are even new ones that are waiting for you to try. I am building up a list of places to try out that are fur baby friendly and even more importantly – places that you will want to visit!

Bars, Cafes & Restaurants
22 The Promenade, Takapuna
This gorgeous cafe sits right on Takapuna beach and features high on many of the award winning lists, Metro included!
69 Saint Georges Bay Road, Parnell
Now, I will say this up front – I adore the La Cigale French Market. It is a beautiful place and full of so many amazing stalls that it is a perfect place to spend a weekend morning (they are open Sat & Sun till 1.30pm). You will see plenty of furry friends wandering around sampling the many delights. There are incredible French imports, both food & homeware. You can also find Wine Direct here – fine wine, French cheese and an Artisan’s farmers market – heaven!!!
A visit to Auntie Briar’s is a must for any pup. Seriously, they go nuts for Auntie Briar’s muffins, biscuits and other doggy treats – on first glance they look like biscuits for us of the two legged kind, don’t be mistaken, they are most wonderful of treats for all fur babies.
